E-mail Configuration Overview
If e-mail to your domain name is forwarded to another e-mail address then there is no change to your e-mail configuration needed, except you may want to change your from e-mail addess to match your e-mail address with your domain name. If your e-mail is not forwarded, then please read the information below on how to configure your incoming and outgoing e-mail.
E-mail Server Information
For secure e-mail an SSL connection is recommended, also select "SSL required" for your e-mail client to ensure a secure connection is always used. Each e-mail client is somewhat different. A summary of the host information is given below and for the many MS Outlook users a step-by-step instructions included below.

- Open Outlook, Click on tools
- Select Accounts
- In the window that pops up select the mail tab
- Click Add
- Select Mail
- The Internet Connection Wizard will come up
- Fill in "Display Name" as you want it to appear on your outgoing mail
- Type in your email address such as jsmith@example.com
- Under email server names: Select the my incoming mail is a "Pop3" server
- The Incoming mail (Pop3) server, type in ssl.rd1.net to use the secure ssl encrypted connection which is recommended, or pop.your_domain_name.com to use an unencrypted connection.
- The Outgoing server (SMTP), type in ssl.rd1.net again to use the secure ssl encrypted connection which is recommended, or smtp.your_domain_name.com
- Under the Account Name use the login name that you were given, please remember that the login and password are case sensitive.
- You can choose to have Outlook remember the password or not, but if you choose not to, then every time you access your mail, you will have to retype in your password.
- Do not select log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) as it is not used.
- Click Next and then Finish to close the internet connection wizard
- While the new mail account is still selected, click properties.
- Under the General tab you may fill in the Organization if desired
- Under the Servers Tab under Outgoing Mail Server select the "My Server requires Authentication"check box.
- Under Settings the default settings of "use the same settings as my incoming mail server" are fine.
- Optional but recommended: Click on the Advanced tab at the top. Select the two boxes "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" for both the Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3)
- Click OK and then Close
- Send yourself a test message to confirm that everything is working.
